Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Print 2 sets of the pattern.
  3. Place some FN-006 Blue into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water).  It should be the consistency of a coffee cream.  Pour this into the canister and roll around to completely coat the interior of the canister.  Drain out the excess glaze and keep canister inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  4. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-001 White to the outside of the canister. Allow to dry.
  5. Cut out the pattern and punch out about 18 snowflakes.
  6. Lay the pattern on the piece, Note:  The hat is on the lid of the canister. With a Fan Brush, apply water under the patter so that it sticks to the glazed area. Make sure all the edges are down securely. You may also cut the pattern where the lid meets the canister. Also apply the snowflakes  to the background with water. You may want to color a few ends of the snowflakes with a water based red marker so you can locate the snowflakes later.
  7. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of SP-212 Speckled Moody Blue to the background of the canister and lid.
  8. Using a Silk Sponge, sponge over the background around the snowman lightly with SC-30 Blue Dawn to lighten the sky slightly.
  9. Remove the paper pattern and the snowflakes while the color is still damp.  Allow to dry.
  10. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, line up the snowman pattern and trace on the design.
  11. Using a CB-312 #12 Flat Shader, float some SC-11 Blue Yonder around the snowman head and body.
  12. Using a Silk Sponge, sponge the cheeks with SC-2 Melon-Choly.
  13. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 3 coats of SC-23 Jack O’ Lantern to the carrot nose.
  14. Using a CB-312 #12 Flat Shader, shade the nose with SC-82 Tuscan Red and detail with a CB-110 #10/0 Liner.
  15. Using a CB-602 #2 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of SC-79 It’s Sage to the scarf and 3 coats of SC-26 Green Thumb to the zigzag.
  16. Using a CB-312 #12 Flat Shader, shade the scarf with SC-SC-26 Green Thumb and SC-14 Java Bean.
  17. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, add thin stripes to the scarf with SC-14 Java Bean. (Refer to photo).
  18. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 3 coats of SC-82 Tuscan Red to the poinsettia and shade with SC-15 Tuxedo.

  20. Shade the hatband with SC-5 Tiger Tail.
  21. Using the end of a brush handle place dots of SC-26 Green Thumb and SC-27 Sour Apple to the center of the poinsettia.

  23. Using a CB-106 #6 and a CB-202 #2 Detail Liner, apply 2-3 coats of SC-15 Tuxedo to the hat.
  24. Using a CB-312 #12 Flat Shader, shade the hat with SC-60 Silver Lining.
