Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place some FN-004 Red into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water).  It should be the consistency of a coffee cream.  Pour this into the vase and roll around to completely coat the interior of the vase.  Drain out the excess glaze and keep the vase inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  3. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, trace the pattern onto the vase.
  4. Using a RB-104 #4 Liner, apply UG-21 Leaf Green and UG-22 Spring Green to glaze in the bottom half of the ear of corn. Use the darker green near the bottom and use the lighter green near the tops of the ear of corn for highlights. Blend the two together when the meet.
  5. Using the same brush, apply UG-46 Bright Yellow on the ear of corn. Use this same color to go over some of the highlighted parts of the green.
  6. Use UG-31 Chocolate for the kernels on the face of the corn. This is the same color you will use in the husk of the corn to give the details and lines.
  7. Add in UG-206 Fire Engine Red to the cheeks of the corn and UG-51 China White to the eye area.
  8. Use SG-401 Black Designer Liner on the features on the face of the corn.
  9. Using UG-206 Fire Engine Red, UG-94 Pansy Purple, and UG-10 Crimson create the hearts around the corn.
  10. Place a small amount of SG-401 Designer Liner on a palette and add a small amount of water to thin. This will make it easier to write letters with.
  11. Use a CB-110 #10/0 Liner to apply the lettering. Allow to dry.
  12. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing to the outside of the vase or dip with your choice of dipping glaze. Allow to dry.
  13. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
