Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-001 White to MB-1322 Heart Paperweight. Allow glaze to dry completely between coats.
  3. With scissors, cut out the heart outline from the pattern. Center the pattern on MB-1322 Heart Paperweight and trace the outline of the heart. 
  4. Using CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, brush water over the heart pattern, align the paper heart with the penciled area, and press the pattern onto the bisque. Use a damp BT-910 Synthetic Sponge to smooth out the pattern surface. Be sure the edges are flush against the bisque.
  5. With scissors, cut out a two inch strips of the scrapbooking scribble paper.
  6. Using CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, working in sections, apply 1 coat of FN-001 White then lay the scribble paper into the wet glaze. Working around the paper heart pattern, repeat until the edge of the paper heart pattern is covered with the scribble paper. Be sure all edges of the scribble paper is flush against the MB-1322 Heart Paperweight. 
  7. Using CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of SC-74 Hot Tamale over the sribble paper and to the backside of the MB-1322 Heart Paperweight. Allow glaze to dry completely between coats. Remove the scribble paper and paper heart pattern while second coat is damp.
  8. Using CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply SC-87 Ruby Slippers to the edge of the heart to float a fade to the white area of the heart.
  9. Darken SC-74 Hot Tamale with a touch of SC-15 Tuxedo. Using CB-106 #6 Script Liner, float the darkened SC-74 Hot Tamale to the remaining area of the MB-1322 Heart paperweight.
  10. Darken FN-001 White with food coloring. With a palette knife, thicken the darkened FN-001 White mixture with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium to the consistency of peanut butter.
    • Note: Review the Silkscreen Instructions for further information and how to clean your screen.
  11. Using DSS-0113 Bug, center the image from the screen on the bottom of the white heart on MB-1322 Heart paperweight.
  12. Rub the thickened FN-001 White mixture through the screen with your finger. This will act as a pattern for color placement.
  13. Using CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-27 Sour Apple to the screened grasshopper. Allow glaze to dry completely between coats. 
  14. With a palette knife, thicken SC-15 Tuxedo with AC-310 Silkscreen medium to the consistency of peanut butter.
  15. Realign the grasshopper screen over the painted grasshopper. Rub the thickened SC-15 Tuxedo mixture over the screen with your finger. rinse to clean your screen and lay flat to dry.
  16. With a pencil, write the words "I'm buggy about you" above the screened grasshopper. Using SG-401 Black, trace the penciled words.
    • Tip: You may also use AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper to trace the words from the provided pattern, if desired.
  17. Using SG-402 White and SG-403 Red, apply dots along the edge of the white heart, where SC-87 Ruby Slippers is painted. This will allow for a softer transition of color. Allow to dry completely. 
  18. Using CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing to the front and back of MB-1322 Heart Paperweight. Allow to dry completely.
  19. Stilt and fire to cone 06/05.
