Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Cut out the medallion shape from the pattern, trace onto the center of the vase,
  3. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 1 coat of SC-16 Cotton Tail to the medallion.  Wet the medallion are with water then place the paper medallion into the space. Press with a paper towel to remove excess water.
  4. Thin SC-95 Pinkie Swear, SC-11 Blue Yonder, SC-24 Dandelion. Using a  CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, swirl these colors on to the flat section of the vase, leave some of the bisque unpainted. Apply one time.
  5. Place some SC-15 Tuxedo on a palette or tile sprinkle with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium. Using a palette knife mix to the consistency of thick peanut butter. If the mix is to thin add more AC-310 Silkscreen Medium or if to thick add more SC-15 Tuxedo to thin.
  6. We recommend you test the screen on the bottom of the piece.  If it bleeds then you need more of the medium, probably just a little. If the image doesn’t transfer well then all more SC-15 Tuxedo, too much medium.
  7. Use the ¼ inch DSS-105 Designer Silkscreen – Stripe Pattern, with the shiny side down, placed on an angle, screen the SC-15 Tuxedo mix trough the screen with your finger or a soft rubber squeegee. Screen up the inner edge of the vase.
  8. Work on the other side, before crossing the stripe with the silkscreen to get the gingham look, that way the screen has time to dry.
  9. The screen may be used twice between cleaning, as long as it is used immediately, as you must prevent the glaze from drying in the screen.  Wash gently and dry, for the second round of screening. It’s important for the life of the screen not to let the glaze dry in the screen.
  10. After screening, remove the paper medallion template.
  11. Pencil in the border edge.
  12. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply SC-11 Blue Yonder to the border edge.
  13. With a synthetic sponge, sponge in a little SC-95 Pinky Swear, some SC-11 Blue Yonder.
  14. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, float SGC-24 Dandelion around the edges.
  15. With a pencil, trace around the letter A in the center of the medallion.
  16. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply SC-15 Tuxedo to the letter A and outline the borders with SC-15 Tuxedo.
  17. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of CG-772 Seawind to the neck and sides of the vase and front edge.
  18. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of SC-15 Tuxedo to the sides, inside of the neck, leave the edge of the neck and front edge unpainted.  Glaze those areas with 1 coat of SC-24 Dandelion. Allow to dry.
  19. Dip into clear glaze of choice Allow to dry.
  20. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
