Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Find the center of the bottle cap and drill a hole using a Dremel Drill.
  3. Check the pattern and pencil in the appropriate spaces for the colors of the bandings with pencil.
  4. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-001 White to the center section (star area) and the white band, apply past the area as the other colors will cover the white glaze.  Using a banding wheel can help make this easier.
  5. Cut out the star shape from the pattern to the edges of the white border of the star, you will need a second star shape, so make two copies.
  6. Fold the star in fourths to find the center, place a hole in the center.  Wet the white glaze in the star area; line the hole in the star to the hole in the clock, then lay down the star.  Place paper towel over to remove excess water and to be sure it lays flat.
  7. Measure for the colors on the face of the clock, pencil in a line.
  8. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 4-5 coats of FN-044 Yellow Orange creating a yellow band, its better to go past the line as the black line will cover.
  9. After the FN-044 Yellow Orange has dried, measure again the white area.
  10. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner to band the black ¼ " lines with SC-15 Tuxedo, band multiple times to make sure to cover.
  11. Remove the paper star.
  12. To form the white band around the star, cut out the center star from the second copy of the star, re-wet the area for the placement of cut out border of the star, place in the appropriated spot.
  13. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2-3 coats of SC-31 The Blues to the opening.  Remove the paper.
  14. Condition a CB-106 #6 Script Liner by: dampen the brush in water and squeeze out any excess water. Load the brush with AC-525 Brush Cleaner then squeeze between a paper towel.
  15. Apply a coat of AC-302 Wax resist to the area around the star that will be stamped. This will make it easier to clean up any over stamping.
  16. Using the AC-213 Sponge on a Stick load the sponge with SC-15 Tuxedo. Tap the SC-15 Tuxedo onto the ST-104 Skyline Stamp then press the stamp gently  to the lower area of the star. Protect the area with paper to avoid over stamping also.
  17. Remove any over stamping on the AC-302 Wax Resist with a wet brush.
  18. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, trace on the words of the clock.
  19. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-74 Hot Tamale to the words. Allow to dry.
  20. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
  21. Install the clock works.
