Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place some FN-009 Black into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water).  It should be the consistency of coffee cream.  Pour this into the book vase and roll around to completely coat the interior of the book vase. Drain out the excess glaze and keep book vase inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  3. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 thinned coat of FN-009 Black to the pages of the book. With a damp sponge, wipe back to antique the pages.  Be careful not to get on the cover. Wipe off if you do.
  4. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, trace on the design.
  5. Outline the design with SA-002 Black Accent.
  6. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, plop 9drop & fill) CG-974 Bloomin’ Blue into the back feathers area, making sure one of the crystals is in each of the spaces.
  7. Apply 2 coats of SC-16 Cotton Tail to the chest. Make small strokes of SC-35 Gray Hare on the chest. Beak is 2 coats of SC-35 Gray Hare, then lighten with SC-16 Cotton Tail for the tip.
  8. Puddle SC-74 Hot Tamale around the eye.
  9. Use SC-76 Cara-bein Blue and apply 2 coats on the head feather, and small area at the back of the neck.
  10. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan and a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of FN-001 White to the background area.
  11. Apply 1 light coat of CG-722 Seawind to the background, spreading the crystals out. Allow to dry.
  12. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of S-210 Crystal Cleat to the page area only. Allow to dry.
  13. Mix some SC-15 Tuxedo with a little gum, this is to thicken the SC-15 Tuxedo so it will not bleed when using the screen. Should be the consistency of Peanut Butter.
  14. Place the screen in position, holding the screen in place, start at the center of the screen and rub the thickened SC-15 Tuxedo into the screen with your finger.  Remove the screen.  The screen can be used again without cleaning, if used immediately.  Otherwise, clean the screen with water by gently rubbing with a soft sponge, allow to dry flat on paper towel.
  15. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 05/06.
