Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Option: Insides can be roll glazed as follows in the next step or you can dip the pieces at the end.
  3. Place some S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water).  It should be the consistency of a coffee cream.  Pour this into the teapot and roll around to completely coat the interior of the teapot.  Drain out the excess glaze and keep the teapot inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  4. Pencil areas that lace will be applied. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-001 White to these areas,.
  5. Apply another coat of FN-001 White in sections then apply and flatten the lace into the wet glaze.  Make sure to remove gaps.
  6. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-004 Red over the lace areas and three coats of the red to the remainder of the teapot. The reason for the 2 coats over the lace area is that the lace will puddle more glaze.
  7. Remove the lace when the shine leaves the glaze.
  8. After the Red glaze is dry, use the SG-402 White designer liner to dot in the patterns. Use the SG-403 Red Designer Liner to dot over the FN-001 White glaze on the lid knobs.
  9. Apply 1 coat of S-2101 Crystal Clear glaze over the Designer Liner or you can dip the piece if you did not glaze the inside as in step 3.  Allow to dry.
  10. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
