Instructions
- Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
- Use an indelible marker to outline close to the image, just to give a sense of the space of the screen. For the compass mark the N on the screen so you know which goes up.
- Mix some AC-310 Silkscreen Medium to some SC-15 Tuxedo on a tile. Use a palette knife to blend. Add small amounts at a time, as it will thicken more as it sits. Should be the consistency of peanut butter. Position the silkscreen with the gain side up on the plate. Rub some of the thickened SC-15 Tuxedo over the screen, press firmly.
- Use SG-401 Black Designer Liner to continue the waves across the plate.
- Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, float SC-58 501 Blues to shade the sky; don’t forget the sky between the sails. Apply 2 coats of shading around the backside of the ship and sails.
- Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 1 coat of SC-74 Hot Tamale into the flags and the compass points.
- Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of FN-213 Saffire Blue to the back of the plate.
- Apply Clear Glaze of Choice. If using Brushing Clear apply to the top only. If using Dipping Clear you can dip the whole piece. Allow to dry.
- Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
