Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, brush 2 coats of SW-002 Matte Clear to the inside of the mugs.
  3. On a palette, with a palette knife, thicken SW-304 Copper Wash with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium, sprinkling the medium onto the Copper Wash, to the consistency of peanut butter. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes or more to set up. Can be left over night covered with saran wrap. This will make the mix creamy. It gives the Silkscreen Medium time to fully mix in. You may need to add more copper wash if it becomes too thick.
  4. Tape off a portion of the mug, start between the handle. Using the shiny side up, with the small stripe screen from DSS-0105 Stripes (using the shiny side up will allow more of the mixed color to go through the screen). Hold the stripes in a horizontal direction, use the squeegee to pull the thickened Copper Wash through the screen.
  5. Remove screen, move the tape to the next section of the mug and continue to screen the stripes around the mug, including the handle. The screen can be reused a couple of times before cleaning, as long as it is used immediately.
  6. Let dry.
  7. The underside of the handles is brushed with 1 coat of SW-304 Copper Wash with CB-106 #6 Script Liner.
  8. For the orange mug, brush 3 coats of SW-139 Creamsicle to the outside of the mug and handle, brushing in different directions with CB-604 #4 Soft Fan.
  9. The other mug is brushed with SW-137 Stormy Gray same as in step 7.
  10. Clean the glaze from the bottoms and fire to cone 6.
