Great project for couples.

1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
2. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply SC-74 Hot Tamale border around both the square platter and the funky heart dish. Don't worry about how many coats you apply (go for 2 - 3) or if your line is perfectly straight. Be loose and free.
3. On the platter, paint a SC-70 Pink-A-Dot border inside the red. Again, don't worry too much about the number of coats or the exact nature of the line you create. It is OK to overlap the pink on the red.
4. Paint a heart using SC-74 Hot Tamale in the center of both the funky heart dish and the platter. Be loose and free as you paint the heart. Don't worry about the edges being perfect and don't worry about how many coats you apply, but do approximately 2-3 coats.
5. Between the red border and the red heart on the dish, apply 2-3 coats of SC-70 Pink-A-Dot using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner. You may find yourself overlapping the red and that is fine.
6. Dilute SC-15 Tuxedo on your palette with a bit of water and mix so that it will glide smoothly and go on thin when applied to your pieces.
7. Starting with the dish, make a thin heart about 1/2 the size of the center heart using the diluted SC-15 Tuxedo using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner.
8. Next, add black outlining in the shape of the heart where the colors shift from red to pink and pink to red. If your line breaks as you outline, leave it. It is not necessary to have a solid line. In fact, sometimes it looks better if there are breaks in line.
9. Next, load a CB-106 #6 Script Liner with the diluted mixture and hold it between your thumb and middle finger. Using your index finger, tap the brush over the dish. You will create a spatter efffect. Feel free to experiment. You may also want to hold the brush at the end and throw the glaze on to the dish. You can get lines of spatter with this technique.
10. Finish the platter by outlining and spattering in the same manner. Have fun and add wiggles to your outlining if you'd like. Also, you'll find that the heavier you load your brush, the more spatter and the larger the drops you can create.
