Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Wet and squeeze out a chamois.
  3. Squirt in circular direction SC-30 Blue Dawn, then SC-16 Cotton Tail onto the chamois.
  4. Fold the Chamois in half open then fold in the opposite direction to get the glaze to mix.
  5. Place the chamois on the whale then press and lift. Fill in gaps by pressing a section of the chamois again, repeat the process for the entire surface.  Press a dry paper towel over to remove excess glaze.
  6. Allow the glaze to dry.
  7. Place some SC-15 Tuxedo or (use SG-401 Designer Liner for more intence color saturation) on a palette or tile sprinkle with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium. Using a palette knife mix to the consistency of stiff peanut butter. If the mix is to thin add more AC-310 Silkscreen Medium or if to thick add more SC-15 Tuxedo to thin. Test before using to make sure of the consistency, usually you may need to add more of the medium.
  8. Place the Ship silkscreen in position then holding with your left hand, rub the thickened SC-15 Tuxedo over the screen, start at one end, and lift the screen as you go, to make sure you don’t pull up the glaze.
  9. The anchor is screened on the other side.
  10. Take a patterned stencil, hold it to the section to be screened, use the AC-213 Sponge on a Stick with SC-30 Blue Dawn, then tap the color through the stencil.
  11. The eyes are thinned SC-76 Cara-bein Blue, two coats, SC-15 Tuxedoto the pupil.  Mouth and eyes are outlined with SG-401 Black Designer Liner. Allow to dry.
  12. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing or dip in Clear glaze of choice.  Allow to dry.
  13. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
