Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place some FN-015 Brick Red into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water).  It should be the consistency of a coffee cream.  Pour this into the mug and roll around to completely coat the interior of the mug.  Drain out the excess glaze and keep mug inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  3. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of FN-015 Brick Red to the backside of the plate.
  4. Using the CB-604 #4 Soft Fan apply 2 to 3 coats of SC-20 Cashew Later to the mug and to the top side of the plate, keeping off the eyes.
  5. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-16 Cotton Tail to the eyes.
  6. With a Watercolor Marker, sketch on the eyes, gash marks/scars and mouth, using the photo as a guide if needed.
  7. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-16 Cotton Tail to the teeth on the mug.
  8. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply wet into wet the following colors to add scars and gash lines to the faces: SC-28 Blue Isle, SC-74 Hot Tamale, SC-53 Purple Haze and SC-35 Gray Hare.
  9. For the plate, apply 2 coats of SC-74 Hot Tamale with the CB-106 #6 Script Liner to the lips, and then blend with some SC-28 Blue Isle or SC-35 Gray Hare. Deepen the shadow area where the lips meet with SC-15 Tuxedo.
  10. For the plate, shade around the eyes and nose with SC-28 Blue Isle, and on the mug, with SC-35 Gray Hare.
  11. Add eyebrows with the CB-110 #10/0 Liner loaded in SC-15 Tuxedo.
  12. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner and add the iris of the eyes on the plate with 2 coats of SC-26 Green Thumb and to the mug 2 coats of SC-14 Java Bean.
  13. Add the pupils to the eyes with the CB-106 #6 Script Liner loaded in SC-15 Tuxedo.
  14. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Line and a CB-110 #10/0 Liner loaded in SC-74 Hot Tamale, add a wash to the plate’s eyes and blood veins to the eyes on the mug.
  15. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner loaded in SC-15 Tuxedo, outline and add detail, following the photo as a guide.
  16. Thin some of the SC-74 Hot Tamale, and spatter the piece with a CB-106 #6 Script Liner.
  17. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing glaze, to the eyes on both pieces and the teeth on the mug.
  18. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-216 Sea Glass to the top of the plate and the outside of the mug, keeping off the already glazed areas.
  19. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.
