Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Center the SB-123 Large Nesting Bowl on a banding wheel. Pencil a line approximately 2" below the rim. Tape below the line, to act as a mask for silkscreening.
  3. On a palette, with a palette knife, mix AC-310 Silkscreen medium with SG-401 Black and thicken to the consistency of peanut butter.
  4. Align the small stripes from DSS-0105 Stripes (with the shiny side up) at an angle to the 2" space at the top of the bowl.
  5. Using a squeegee, rub the thickened SG-401 Black mixture over the stripe pattern to screen. Repeat until all sections are screened.
    • Tip: Refer to the Silkscreen Instructions for proper cleaning information. You may need to clean the silkscreen inbetween each screening.
  6. Align the small stripes (with the shiny side up) at the opposite angle for a crisscross design.
  7. Using a squeegee, rub the thickened SG-401 Black mixture over the stripe pattern to screen. Repeat until all sections are screened.
  8. Using CB-606 #6 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of SW-254 Yellow Opal over the screened stripes and 3 coats to the interior of the SB-123 Large Nesting Bowl. Use a banding wheel when applying the glaze, or brush in a circular direction.
  9. Remove the tape.
  10. Brush the remainder of the bowl with 2 coats of SW-118 Sea Salt, recede the last coat one inch from the bottom, using CB-606 #6 Soft Fan. Make sure to stir the glaze as the crystals will be at the bottom.
  11. Using CB-606 #6 Soft Fan, brush 2 coats of SW-254 Yellow Opal over the SW-118 Sea Salt.
  12. Be sure to clean any glaze off the bottom of the bowl.
  13. Fire to shelf cone 6.
