Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, brush 2 coats of SW-250 White Opal to your piece.
  3. Fill 3 writer bottles each  with one of the following colors: SW-251 Pink Opal, SW-252 Blue Opal, SW-253 Green Opal. Thin each color with a small amount of water.
  4. Using a banding wheel, center and secure the plate. Starting with the outter 1/3 of the plate, start with the outside and work your way into the center to get the spin art look.
  5. With the plate on the banding wheel, use a writer bottle with thinned SW-253 Green Opal, squeezing a layer of the color to the outer 1/3 rim. Let that color lose its wet shiny look.
  6. In the middle 1/3 of the plate, squeeze a layer of thinned SW-252 Blue Opal, allowing it to overlap or spread onto the first color. Let that color lose its wet shiny look.
  7. SW-251 Pink Opal is the last color. Start in the center of the plate and squeeze a layer so that it overlaps or spreads onto the second color. Let that color lose its wet shiny look.
  8. Using the thinned SW-253 Green Opal, draw a spiral from the center of the plate to the outer rim.
  9. With a damp sponge, wipe off any excess glaze off the foot of the plate.
  10. Place on a high-fired kiln washed kiln shelf. Do not stilt and make sure the plate is not hanging over the kiln shelf.
