Foundations, How Can I Use Thee?

A poetic answer might be: "Let me count the ways . . ." But the short answer is: Just about any way you wish.
Thinking of Foundations as a "basic" glaze may cause us to overlook its many talents. The versatility in how it can be applied, the wide-firing range under which it performs, its compatibility with other glazes - this one glaze can do just about anything any glaze decorator could ask for.
Foundations are rich in pigment and solids, but they flow easily and smoothly when brushing. They work great as a "foundation" color - on which you can add design work. The are a great choice for rolling the inside of vessels and all-over coverage - no visible brushstrokes in the fired finish. This easy-flowing nature also allows them to dry quickly.

Foundations can be layered on top of one another - or butted against - without the colors bleeding into each other. But Foundations can also be intermixed for color customization.

Foundations Sheers and Mattes offer translucent and satin finishes, respectively. Beautiful for the depth they add to projects.
