Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place tape to the inside border of the plate.
  3. Pour some SG-501 Sculpting Medium into the AC-219 Designer Bottle with Tip, use the AC-228 Large Writer Tip, quickly move the bottle back and forth along the border overlapping the glaze onto the tape, creating a triangle design with the SG-501 Sculpting Medium. Remove the tape.
  4. Fill in the line around the taped edge with the SG-501 Sculpting Medium in the AC-219 Designer Bottle with the AC-228 Large Writer Tip to finish off the border design.
  5. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of FN-043 Bright Jade to the center of the plate, make sure to get right up next to the SG-501 Sculpting Medium, do not leave any space unglazed.
  6. Pour some FN-043 Bright Jade into the AC-219 Designer Bottle with Tip with the AC-228 Large Writer Tip to fill in the triangle designs that have the flat side next to the center of the plate with this glaze.
  7. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan apply 2 coats of FN-227 Celery over the border and back of the plate, make sure not to leave any gaps unglazed next to the SG-501 Sculpting Medium.
  8. When the center of the plate is dry, using the AC-213 Sponge on a Stick load the sponge with SC-10 Teal Next Time. Tap the SC-10 Teal Next Time onto the ST-341 Leaves Stamp then press the stamp gently onto the center of the plate.  Allow to dry.
  9. Take the bird stencil, make sure there is enough room to get the stencil to lay flat, trim any edges that need to be trimmed.
  10. Spray adhesive to the back of the stencil with stencil adhesive.  Follow the directions on the can.
  11. The glazed surface needs to be completely dry for the adhesive to work.  Place the bird stencil on the plate and press lightly in place.
  12. Use a Rubber Squeegee to fill in the stencil and remove any excess.
  13. Remove the stencil, need to set approx one minute, its best to pull off the stencil from both sides at the same time. If any of the sculpting medium gets on the plate it can be easily removed, by gently scraping or when dry, rubbing it off.  Allow to dry.
  14. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 05/06.
