Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 Bisque. Moisten a clean Sponge and wipe Bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 Coats of FN-001 White to the entire plate.
  3. While the Glaze is drying cut out 4 large circles approximately 2” in diameter and 7 small circles, approximately 1” in diameter. These will be your flowers.
  4. Fold the circles into fourths, then pencil in a center. Cut 5 triangles out of the large circle to create the shape of the flower, cutting up to the center.
  5. Repeat process for the smaller circles, cutting 4 triangles out of the smaller circles to create the shape of the flower.
  6. Cut out 14 leaves, varying the sizes.
  7. Cut out the design for the center of the plate. It can be a number, initial, both or whatever design you choose.
  8. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, dab on SC-24 Dandelion and SC-75 Orange-A-Peel to the center of the flower of the large paper cut out flower shapes.
  9. Using the same brush apply SC-11 Blue Yonder and SC-76 Cara-bien Blue to the flower petal. Make sure the entire pattern is covered in Glaze or there will be bald spots when you remove the pattern.
  10. Place the painted cut out pattern on the plate, using tweezers to keep your fingers from removing the Glaze from the pattern. Place one flower, pressing lightly, then place the second flower. Go back to the first flower and press firmly. This will ensure that the Glaze transfers to the plate.
  11. Press down all of the flowers. Use a damp Sponge to remove excess Glaze. Wipe from the center of the pattern out to prevent lifting up the edges of the pattern.
  12. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply SC-24 Dandelion to the center of the smaller flowers. Dab on a good amount of Glaze.
  13. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, dab on SC-75 Orange-A-Peel to the flower petals, overlapping a bit onto the center so there are no bald spots on the pattern.
  14. Use the tweezers to set the flowers onto the plate. Apply a couple of the flowers before you press down the pattern onto the plate. Wipe off excess Glaze with a Sponge.
  15. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply or dab on a coat of SC-26 Green Thumb to the paper cut out leaves. Place the painted leaves on to the plate overlaping the leaves onto the paper flower so it looks like the leaves are growing from the flowers. Apply to plate with tweezers, let sit a minute, then press down. Clean off excess with a damp Sponge.
  16. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply SC-11 Blue Yonder or SC-75 Orange-A-Peel to your center design item. Apply to plate with tweezers, let sit a minute, press down, remove excess Glaze with a damp Sponge.
  17. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of FN-001 White to the front of the plate brushing over the paper patterns.
  18. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, drop and fill in the words Happy Birthday with SC-11 Blue Yonder.
  19. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 thin coat of CG-788 Dutch Enamelware, thinned with water, to the front of the plate. An easy way to avoid getting too many crystals is to pour some Glaze onto a foam plate and paint from the plate.
  20. Wait until the shine leaves the Glaze before removing the paper. Remove all of the paper patterns with a pin and tweezers.
  21. Usinga CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 Coats of FN-001 White or 2 Coats of CG-788 Dutch Enamelware to the back of the plate. Allow to dry.
  22. Do Not apply Clear Glaze.
  23. Stilt and Fire to shelf cone 06.
