Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 Bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Lay the AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper over the lower portion of your platter (make sure you have the correct side down) and position the traceable rabbit design over your tracing paper and platter. Trace the design while being careful not to move the paper.
  3. Make a color wash by diluting the glaze SC-43 Lettuce Alone with some water. In a swirling motion, apply the wash with a cotton ball in the grass portion of the design.
  4. Make a color wash using SC-65 Peri-Twinkle and apply the wash with a cotton ball above the horizon line around the bunny and trees over the entire platter -including the back of the platter. Once the entire wash is dry (which will be almost instantly), dip your cotton ball in more SC-65 Peri-Twinkle and dab the color around the bunny so that the blue is darker directly around the bunny.
  5. Using either a cotton swab or a CB-404 #4 Pointed Round, apply SC-7 Leapin' Lizard loosely to the trees and bushes.
  6. Add a small amount of SC-8 Just Froggy to the trees and bushes - dab on a light amount to create some shadows.
  7. Using a CB-404 #4 Pointed Round or CB-406 #6 Pointed Round, apply SC-16 Cotton Tail in thick uneven brush strokes all over the bunny.
  8. To make the handprint paws, apply SC-41 Brown Cow your child's hand, and then place it on the plate. To get a good handprint, press down with your hand over their hand before lifting up.
  9. Using SC-54 Vanilla Dip and SC-46 Rawhide, add some shading to the bunny using the same type of brush strokes.
  10. Using SC-41 Brown Cow and similar loose brush strokes, add the majority of color to the bunny leaving some of SC-46 Rawhide and SC-54 Vanilla Dip untouched.
  11. Once the bunny fur is finished, add a dot of SC-16 Cotton Tail for the eye.
  12. Using SC-3 Wine About It, paint the inside of the right ear and put a light dab on the bunny's nose.
  13. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner brush and SC-15 Tuxedo diluted with water, outline the bunny, horizon, trees, bushes and grass. Also, add some random lines to mimic the texture of fur on the bunny.
  14. Pencil in your message and trace your letters in SC-15 Tuxedo. Don't forget to personalize your piece with names and dates.
  15. Apply Clear Glaze (optional). Allow to dry.
  16. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.
