Blossoming with Age

TelAviv1
Tapping into the vitality and creative skills of senior adults in Israel was the intent of artist Shlomit Hepher. Under her guidance, 1600 adults from 70 senior centers in Israel created ceramic flowers which are on display at the Eretz Israel Museum in Tel Aviv through April 11, 2014.

Guided by Hepher, each artist created flowers from clay, which were then glazed. Many of these artists were working with clay for the first time. The beauty of their creations is not just a vision of what is inside their minds, but also a reminder that our senior citizens throughout the world have a desire to create, study and live life to the fullest. Their time on this earth yields them a different perspective through which we must learn to appreciate. They have a desire to contribute to society as a whole and have the experience, passion and perspective to do so effectively.

The Blossoming with Age project gives insight to the mind of the senior citizen for what it is - a beautiful entity which continues to grow with age. Those associated with the project, including Shlomit Hepher, seek to give a different presentation of senior adults than that of popular culture. Our senior adults offer an abounding zest for life, creativity and a desire to share their creative abilities with the world.

We are proud that Mayco Stroke & Coat glazes were important part of the glaze selection. Many thanks to our distribution partner, Joel Stup, of Minerco for sharing the news and information on this very meaningful endeavor.
