Canton Empty Bowls Event at OCS

Mayco distributor, Ohio Ceramic Supply, donated clay and Mayco glazes to the Canton Ceramics Artist Guild to support their efforts to create handmade soup bowls for their local Empty Bowls for Hunger event.
This year’s annual May Show and Sale marked the 20th year that the Guild has participated in the Empty Bowls event. In addition to offering the bowls for sale, the Guild provided refreshments, musical entertainment and gave throwing demonstrations for the attendees - many of whom attend each year specifically to support the Empty Bowls program.
Bowls were sold for a minimum donation of $15 per bowl and ranged in design from rustic handbuilt shapes to smooth wheel thrown vessels. Over $1400 was raised from the sale of 75 bowls with all proceeds going to the Stark County Hunger Task Force to support the hungry in their community.
