Instructions
- Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
- Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of FN-014 Antique White to the front and back of the plate. Allow to dry.
- Using a water soluble pencil or washable felt tip pen, sketch a circle 2" in diameter in the center of the plate. You can also do it free hand.
- Using the same technique draw 1 circle either side of the center circle 1.5" in diameter. Then place 5 circles 1.5" in diameter, randomly behind the front of the 3 circles.
- Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-20 Cashew Later to all 8 circles. These will be the faces of the carolers.
- Using a pencil or washable marker, sketch the scarves and the open books under the front 3 faces. Then add the arms, hands and legs. They stop at the inner rim of the plate.
- Once you have the front carolers in place you can then go on to add the hair, hats, scarves, ear muffs, head bands and gloves to all the faces.
- Sketch on the 4 corners of the plate 3 holly leaves.
- When you have sketched all your carolers and holly heaves, apply 2 coats of Stroke & Coat in your chosen colors. Use SC-30 Blue Dawn for the trousers of the front 3 if you want them to look like they are wearing jeans.
- You can add spots, stripes and tassels to the hats and scarves.
- Using SC-36 Irish Luck, apply 2 coats to the holly leaves on the corners of the plate. Allow to dry.
- Dip the back end of a pencil into SC-74 Hot Tamale and place onto the holly leaves in the corner for berries. Repeat this 3 times. Dip in the color for each berry.
- Using the back end of the CB-110 #10/0 Liner, dip into the Stroke & Coat of your choice for the eyes. Colors used were: SC-14 Java Bean, SC-27 Sour Apple, SC-30 Blue Dawn and SC-41 Brown Cow. Try not to do them all the same.
- Using the back end of a CB-406 #6 Pointed Round dip into SC-74 Hot Tamale and dab onto the face for a mouth. Do this twice and overlap the dab to make an oval mouth.
- Apply 1 coat of SC-41 Brown Cow in a wash to the carol books then use SC-14 Java Bean to do the writing and outliningon the books.
- Use SC-36 Irish Luck and a touch of SC-34 Down to Earth mixed together to do the veins in the leaves.
- Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner and the smallest amount of SC-15 Tuxedo, apply the pupils to the eyes. Allow to dry.
- Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.
