Instructions
- Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
- Place some FN-041 Medium Blue into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water). It should be the consistency of a coffee cream. Pour this into the teapot and roll around to completely coat the interior of the teapot. Drain out the excess glaze and keep the teapot inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
- Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of SC-90 Elephant Ears to outside of the teapot.
- Apply a third coat of SC-90 Elephant Ears to the areas that do not have the raffia on them.
- Apply a third coat to the center area of the teapot, while the SC-90 Elephant Ears is still wet, apply pieces of raffia into the wet glaze and use your finger to make sure there are no air bubbles under the raffia.
- Repeat the above step on the handle, spout and lid of the teapot.
- Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply SC-10 Teal Next Time to the upper section of the center of the teapot then apply SC-76 Cara-bein Blue from the bottom to the middle of the center section blending the two colors in the middle.
- Repeat the above step on the handle, spout and lid of the teapot.
- When the shine has left the colors, remove the raffia. Do not wait till the colors dry, this can cause chipping and the base color being pulled off.
- Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
