Instructions
- Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
- Print 2 sets of the pattern.
- Cut out the pattern and trace the outside edge of the pattern onto the piece.
- Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan and a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of FN-001 White to the design going just past the outline tracing. Allow to dry.
- Lay the pattern back over the design and with a Fan Brush, apply water under the patter so that it sticks to the glazed area. Make sure all the edges are down securely.
- Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of SP212 Speckled Moody Blue to the background of the top of the plate.
- Using a Silk Sponge, sponge over the background lightly with SC-30 Blue Dawn to lighten the sky slightly.
- Remove the paper while the color is still damp. Allow to dry.
- With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, line up the snowman pattern and trace on the design.
- Using a CB-312 #12 Flat Shader, float some SC-11 Blue Yonder around the snowman head.
- Using a Silk Sponge, sponge the cheek with SC-2 Melon –Choly.
- Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 3 coats of SC-75 Orange-A-Peel to the carrot nose.
- Using a CB-312 #12 Flat Shader, shade the nose with SC-82 Tuscan Red.
- Using a CB-602 #2 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of SC-26 Green Thumb to the Scarf , rim of the hat and the pompom.
- Using a CB-312 #12 Flat Shader, shade the hat and scarf with SC-10 Teal Next Time.
- Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, add thin stripes to the hat rim and scarf. (Refer to photo).
- Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 3 coats of SP-274 Speckled Hot Tamale to the larger Stripes on the hat and 3 coats of SC-82 Tuscan Red to the smaller stripes.
- Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 3 coats of SC-74 Hot Tamale to the red area of the bird.
- Using a CB-312 #12 Flat Shader, shade the bird with SC-82 Tuscan Red.
- Using a CB-202 #2 Detail Liner, apply 2-3 coats of SC-15 Tuxedo to the chest of the bird.
- Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 3 coats of SC-24 Dandelion to the beak and the legs of the bird.
- Using a CB-202 #2 Detail Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-11 Blue Yonder to the iris of the snowman’s eye and SC-15 Tuxedo to the pupil. Outline and add eyelashes, also add the mouth line. Add a highlight to the snowman eyes and to the bird with SC-16 Cotton Tail.
- Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, outline the snowman, hat and scarf with SC-15 Tuxedo, also outline and detail the nose and the bird.
- Using a CB-604 #64 Soft Fan, apply 3 – 4 coats of FN-006 Blue to the back of the plate.
- With the SA-001 Red Accent, add some zigzag lines to the hat and scarf.
- With the SA-003 White Accent, add dots to the SC-82 Tuscan Red stripes of the hat and detail the pompom. Allow to dry.
- Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
